In the not too distant past, most businesses used passive marketing to attract new customers. Traditional passive marketing techniques included advertising (such as print, radio, and television). Now, passive marketing has moved online to include ads (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.), pay-per-click, online directories, and guest posts. While these methods tend to drive some visitors to your website, having an active marketing plan can drive even more visitors to your business.
Active marketing includes having online conversations with potential customers. There are a variety of places where you can engage online. The first place is your blog. Having a blog on your website is a great place for having discussions with visitors. Blog visitors can write comments on your posts and you can write replies. This conversation then displays on your blog post page.
Engage on social media
The next place is on social media. Do not just use social media for posting your articles. Instead, create conversations buy offering advice on your products and services. Others will see your conversations and you will become known as the go-to person for these products and services. Create conversations on social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, and Twitter. The more people you engage, the faster your name will spread.
Establish email campaigns
A third place for active marketing is to set up email campaigns. Create a subscription link on your website and use email campaign software such as Mail Chimp to send out regular emails. With email campaigns, ensure you have the opt-in and opt-out features enabled. You do not want to become branded as an email spammer. Ensure you answer any emails received from subscribers.
Bring in even more customers
Active marketing needs more work on behalf of the owner than passive marketing but the benefits far outweigh the time spent nurturing potential customers. Not only are you increasing your brand but you are also engaging with people. These people will increase your business by buying from you, recommending you, or spreading the word about you. Include active marketing in your marketing campaign and watch the customers flow in.
